KANSAS CITY, KS (KCTV) -

The KCK home where flames originated in a fire that spread to multiple homes had been on the demolition list since 2012.

Construction crews are on site of the home, located near Orville and 7th Street Trafficway.

The fire broke out on Monday night, damaging two homes and forcing residents out of their homes.

According to the Demolition and Abatement Division of the Unified Government, the house was just one of more than 200 that is on their list that need to come down.

The city says budgeting has left the list in limbo.

"We are constantly juggling these properties, and doing the best we can with the monies we've had in the past," said Greg Talkin of the Unified Government of Wyandotte County.

Neighbors say they've dealt with a list of issues, particularly with homeless people living inside the vacant properties.
