KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Avila University officials are investigating an incident on campus that they are calling a hate crime.

Administrators say a swastika was chalked on the exterior of Dallavis Hall on Monday. It was discovered and promptly removed.

The university is located at 11901 Wornall Rd.

“Hate, bigotry, and racism have no place on the Avila campus, where love of the dear neighbor without distinction is at our core. Acts like this are unacceptable. The symbolism the swastika communicates is a message of hate wholly inappropriate for an institution founded and sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet," said Dr. Ron Slepitza, president of Avila University.

If you have any information about this incident, please report it to Campus Safety at 816-985-6079.
