LAWRENCE, KS (KCTV) -

One employee was shot during an attempted robbery at a Kwik Shop in Lawrence, Kansas.

The incident happened at the 3440 W. 6th St. location on Friday morning just before 3:40 a.m.

When officers arrived, they found the 38-year-old man who had been shot. He is a Kwik Shop employee and is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a local hospital.

The investigation revealed that two suspects approached the victim outside the business and attempted to rob him.

During the confrontation, one of the suspects shot a gun and the bullet hit the victim.

The suspects then fled the scene on foot heading northbound first, then westbound on 5th Terrace.

The first suspect is described as a black man who stands between 5 feet, 8 inches tall and 5 feet, 10 inches tall. He was wearing a red bandana over his face, a dark hooded sweatshirt, and dark pants.

The second suspect was described as standing between 6 feet, 2 inches and 6 feet, 3 inches tall. He was wearing a blue bandana over his face, a dark hooded sweatshirt, and dark pants.

The case is still being actively investigated.
