KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Authorities in Kansas City are investigating a three-vehicle accident that killed one person and put two others in the hospital on Wednesday.

The wreck was reported about 6:31 p.m. at the intersection of 39th Street and The Paseo.

Police say a green Mercury Marquis was driving west on 39th Street, through a green light. At the same time, they say a black Honda Accord was driving north on The Paseo at a high rate of speed.

The Honda failed to stop for a red traffic light and crashed into the driver-side door of the Mercury.

After being hit, the Mercury hit a black Toyota Rav4 that was stopped at the red light facing south on The Paseo.

The driver of the Mercury was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver and passenger of the Honda were taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Toyota was not hurt during the accident.

Police say there was no evidence to suggest that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
