Police investigating after passerby finds body near 51st, College

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

The Kansas City Police Department is investigating after someone found a body in the area of E. 51st Street and College Avenue in KC. 

Officers were called to the 5100 block of College Ave. around 9:30 a.m. on Friday. 

A passerby had called the police and said they saw a body.

When officers arrived, they found the body along a treeline. 

The person's age, gender, and cause of death are unknown at this time. 

Police say more information will be released as the investigation continues.

    Police are investigating after gunshots were fired at a vehicle on westbound Interstate 435 just west of Mission Road.  The Overland Park Police Department says it's investigating it as a road rage incident.  The victim was not injured, but had to pull off the highway onto Roe Avenue from I-435.  The shots were fired around 5:10 p.m. on Wednesday evening.  Police say the suspect was driving a white Pontiac with temporary tags.  This is a developing story....
