KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

If you're looking for a prime place to view the total solar eclipse on Aug. 21, the Kansas City Library downtown might be a good option.

Hundreds are welcome to come up the rooftop garden on the fifth floor of the Central Library and enjoy the view. The library is offering a number of activities leading up to “totality.” They’re free for anyone to enjoy.

“Starting at 10 a.m., we have a group meditation up here on the fifth floor of the Central Library. At noon, we have a free concert up here on the roof by Tiny Escalators. You can also purchase a box lunch that you can pick up at the library to eat here," library spokeswoman Courtney Lewis said.

Buying a box lunch ahead of time guarantees you a set of eclipse glasses. The library has a limited supply.

They’re also reserving the top floor of the parking garage across the street as a place where people to gather to view the spectacular event.

Then, it is glasses on about 1 p.m. for the total solar eclipse.

The library is also hosting several events leading up to the big day including a workshop on how to best photograph the eclipse and a visit from a scientist who will talk about how robots are used to explore space.
