OLATHE, KS (KCTV) -

Olathe City Council members have moved the city one step closer to a new soccer complex.

The council unanimously approved plans for the development at the southwest corner of Kansas 10 Highway and Ridgeview Road.

The $59 million complex will not only include 9 soccer fields but also retail shops, restaurants and two hotels.

City officials approved $14 million worth of tax incentives to help pay for the project, including a one cent sales tax for people shopping and eating at the complex and a tax on people staying at the hotels.

Construction is expected to begin in September.

Officials expect the soccer fields to be ready for play by 2019.
