RAYTOWN, MO (KCTV) -

Businesses had a lot of broken glass to fix in Raytown after a string of burglaries.

Multiple shops were hit near 66th Street and Raytown Road, including Mama China Restaurant and Omaha Tropical Market.

Surveillance video shows a burglar crashing through the glass, walking through the store and messing with the cash register.

The burglar spotted the camera at Lutfi’s Fried Fish a few doors down and quickly dismantled it.

“Very frustrated. We're a small business and we're just trying to make it, you know? Just feel very violated and frustrated," said Loretha Hayden, owner of Lutfi's Fried Fish.

The series of burglaries and an armed robbery at the nearby Pizza Hut last week have other business owners concerned.

Elisa Breitenbach, who owns Doughboys down the road, is upset she didn’t learn about the incidents sooner.

"No one said a word about this. I did my own knock and talks because I just felt like I needed to know what really happened," she said.

Breitenbach says police and city officials need to alert citizens and business owners when things like this happen.

"We need more. We deserve more. As citizens, we need to know what's going on in our city," she said.

KCTV5 News reached out to police about Breitenbach's concerns. They said they want all local businesses to feel safe and secure.

“We would be interested in collaborative dialogue and planning to help prevent and mitigate any further incidents," police said.

Meanwhile, they’re upping patrols in the area and investigating each crime.

If you know anything that might help police catch who is responsible, contact the Raytown Police Department.
