KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A man armed with a rifle is in custody after he opened fire in the Midtown area Monday morning.

It happened just before 9:30 a.m. near 39th and Walnut streets.

According to police, two victims told officers that they have been involved in a civil dispute with the suspect who shot at them as they left the area.

Two victims told police that they were having an argument with the suspect when he pulled out a rifle and shot at them as they left the area.

Ty Turner recently moved into the area. He says he was the man yelling at someone and then fire another shot before putting down the rifle.

“It’s something new to me, I just moved over here," Turner said. "I mean it seems bizarre on a Monday morning but I feel like it got handled pretty quickly.”

No one has been hurt, but police say several streets are shut down in the area as it's still an active scene.
