KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Authorities are investigating what caused a shooting that killed a man and injured another early Monday morning.

The victim has been identified as 30-year-old Eugene Webb.

The shooting happened about 2:45 a.m. in the area of 39th Street and Cypress Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found Webb dead from a gunshot wound. Another was hurt and taken to an area hospital in stable condition.

Several bystanders were at the scene while police investigated.

"Yeah, sometimes even when we have witnesses, even if one person saw one small thing or another person saw something else we put those together to try and find out exactly what happened. Kind of put those together to see maybe a sequence of events where possible information on a suspect vehicle or a suspect," said Stacey Graves, a Public Information Officer with the Kansas City Police Department.

One neighbor says she heard up to six gunshots from what she believes were two different guns.

Police have not released any suspect information at this time.

Anyone with information about the shooting or the shooter is asked to call the TIPS Hotline (816) 474-TIPS.
