LAWRENCE, KS (KCTV) -

Dedric Lawson, an incoming transfer to the University of Kansas' basketball program, will not make the upcoming trip to Italy.

The basketball program suspended Lawson due to an "altercation in practice," the university confirms to KCTV5.

Lawson, a former McDonald's All-American who began his career at Memphis, is scheduled to sit out the 2017-18 season due to NCAA transfer rules.

In his final season at Memphis, he averaged 19.2 points, 9.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists a game.

His brother, K.J. Lawson, also transferred from Memphis to KU.
