If Michael Vick is looking to get into coaching, he has the perfect man in his corner.
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is giving his former quarterback a chance at Chiefs training camp.
Vick is a training camp intern coach, helping the quarterbacks.
Reid said he invited him after Vick had already been doing some coaching at the high school level.
“He told me he’s really enjoyed that so, like a lot of players, when they get done playing, they are looking for things to do with the rest of their pro-life, and he has a bunch of routes he could go. I said, ‘Hey, give it a try and see what you think,’” Reid said.
Vick is a coach the players can bounce ideas and questions off because he’s been in this offense before.
“Michael is a great communicator. Not only can he articulate the offense well, but he can coach well. Guys are attracted to him and he carries himself well,” Reid said.
“It’s great. I used to play with him on Madden all the time, and he was unstoppable, so you grow up looking up to a guy like that. And when he walked in on the first day, I was star struck. I didn’t know what to say,” quarterback Tyler Bray said.
Bray said the best advice he’s given him so far is in regard to footwork.
Vick’s style of play matches up with Patrick Mahomes and that’s who will need to soak in every ounce of advice he can.
