A crash at an Independence QuikTrip left multiple people in the hospital Monday night.

The accident happened about 8:56 p.m. at the store located at Truman Road and Sterling Avenue.

Police say an elderly woman was driving the vehicle. It's unknown what led up to the woman crashing into the store.

Two people were taken to an area hospital after the accident. Both are expected to be okay.

Police say the store is unsafe to occupy and have closed it until further notice.

A QuikTrip spokesperson says the company will need to replace the store's front door and repair damage to the checkout counter.

Once the building was considered safe again hey were able to open their doors for business.

The spokesperson says no employees were hurt during the accident but at least one customer suffered a leg injury.
