KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

The Kansas City Chiefs introduced Brett Veach as its new general manager on Monday.

Prior to Veach's introduction, Chiefs CEO/Chairman Clark Hunt addressed media and spoke about the decision to move on from former general manager John Dorsey.

He said there was not just one reason behind the move.

“It was the issues that popped up this spring that led me to even do the evaluation and in the course of that, we found things that we didn’t even realize were problems over the course of two or three years," Hunt said. "That factored into the decision. I felt like we needed the change in the personnel department to match the coaching side in terms of the quality of the organization and that’s why the decision was made.”

Hunt said there were no discussions of contract negotiations with Dorsey and they didn’t want a lame duck general manager going into the season.

The biggest thing, he said, was he needed a more organized and stronger personnel department. Hunt had concerns about sustaining the success of this team.

Hunt also said that in regards to the hiring of Veach, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid had some input, but Hunt ultimately made the decision and he’s not worried about Reid's influence on Veach’s decision making.
