KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

The Salvation Army in Kansas City is asking for bottled water donations to keep people cool in this summer heat.

“We need to serve families here today, the homeless, as well as be prepared for any disaster that happens," Maj. David Harvey said.

There are a lot of reasons why the water is low, but the weather is not helping keep water stocked.

“Normally, we would just go through four cases in a normal day, so this really makes it go faster when it’s this hot and this many people are in danger," Harvey said.

Cases of water were also sent to Emporia after the city was without water for nearly a day after a water main break.

“They were able to serve 1,000 people who needed that water," Harvey said.

If you want to donate, you can drop water off at your local Salvation Army.
