PRAIRIE VILLAGE, KS (KCTV) -

Your children will have a new place to play in Johnson County due to a project that cost nearly a million dollars.

A “treeline adventure” is coming to Prairie Village thanks to some local children.

The county is redeveloping the old Meadowbrook Country Club into a big park.

They reviewed a dozen different plans for a playground at the park, but left it up to the children to pick out exactly what they wanted.

They ultimately chose the treeline adventure.

This week, the county approved the $735,000 for the project.

“It's a destination playground,” said Jeff Stewart, Deputy Director in the Johnson County Park and Recreation District. “So, surface area; the playground itself will be about a third of an acre in size. That's a rather large structure.”

“It's got lots of different features and elements the kids were really attracted to,” he said. “So, there's something for everyone here.

The playground should be ready in spring of 2018.
