MIAMI COUNTY, KS (KCTV) -

Seven people have been charged with murder by Miami County Attorney Elizabeth Sweeney-Reeder after a woman was struck and killed by a vehicle July 21 in Paola.

The victim has been identified as 23-year-old Heather Briggs of Baldwin City.

The Miami County Sheriff's Office says Nichole Razo of Parker was in custody late last week.

Razo, 21, was charged with first-degree murder on July 25.

First-degree murder charges were filed against six others on July 26:

Curtis Cooley, 29
Seth Herron, 25
April Lunsford, 36
Michael Pearce, 27
David Rhoades, 24
Kevin Stevens, 29

A $1 million bond has been set for all of those accused.

Deputies were called about 2 a.m. Friday to the 31500 block of Look-Out Road approximately two miles west of Paola. The caller told authorities that the vehicle was still on top of Briggs.

When emergency crews arrived on the scene, Briggs was dead.

Investigators said several people were in the rural area at the time and Razo "may have intentionally struck" Briggs.

Razo's boyfriend told KCTV5 News, "She feels very remorseful about it and was very shaken up. I just hope people understand that accidents happen and that everyone involved is hurting from it."
