KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

The Kansas City Police Department is asking for the public's help identifying a man and woman in connection with an assault and robbery that happened on Friday at 07:30 a.m. at 18th and Vine.

A black man tried to carjack the victim with a handgun in that area. The victim was assaulted and sustained multiple injuries, but was able to run away.

The man then ran over to a second victim and assaulted her while pointing a handgun. He carjacked her 2005 Ford Escape and drove away with the victim's purse and phone.

A black woman was seen walking in the area with the man prior to the assault and robbery. This woman did not take part in the robbery, but can be seen getting into the victim's vehicle with the man a couple blocks away from the original scene.

Approximately 20 minutes after the robbery, the woman shows up alone on video surveillance at a gas station in Blue Springs, driving the victim's vehicle and wearing the same clothing she had on at the scene of the robbery.

The woman tried to use the victim's debit card, which had been canceled.

The woman left in an unknown direction and the vehicle has not been recovered yet.

If anyone has information regarding the identity of the man and woman pictured, please contact the TIPS Hotline 816-474-TIPS (8477).
