KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

The Kansas City Chiefs have signed first round pick Patrick Mahomes to a contract.

Mahomes was the first quarterback the Chiefs picked in the first round of the NFL Draft since Todd Blackledge in 1983.

His deal was announced in a tweet from the team.

The Chiefs sent the No. 27 and No. 91 overall picks in this year's draft to Buffalo in order to grab Mahomes.

Mahomes finished his collegiate career with over 11,000 passing yards, 93 touchdowns and just 29 interceptions.

Terms of the deal have not been announced by the club yet.
