KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Police in Kansas City and Riverside arrested a suspect after searching near NW Waukomis Drive and NW Vivion Road.

NW Vivion Road was blocked by police activity from NW Gateway Avenue to NW Wakuomis Drive.

The man was handcuffed inside a Northmoor police cruiser.

He got his hands in front of his body and into the driver seat of the police car and drove off.

Investigators say the man tried to run over at least one officer.

That officer fired his gun at least two times striking the suspect in the right arm.

He wrecked about a block away and ran off on foot.

It took about three hours before heavily armed officers, search dogs, and a police helicopter  found the man hiding in a thick brush area.
