FAIRWAY, KS (KCTV) -

As the summer months roll on, the price of gas is steadily dropping.

Gas prices in the Kansas City area are down two-cents over the past week, faster than the national pace of 1.7-cents.

The cheapest gas in the metro can be found in Leavenworth., KS, where it can be found for $1.90 per gallon.

Sam's Club and Costco in the Northland are also selling gas pretty cheap, at $1.93 per gallon.

The most expensive gas from the metro is found in Johnson County, KS.

Experts say there is still a chance for a spike during the summer.

Lower prices means more people are driving, which increases demand.

We could also see a spike if a hurricane hits the gulf during the 2017 season.

Prices are up from where they were in 2016. in July of 2016, drivers were paying only $1.98.
