Wife of man killed in Leavenworth officer-involved shooting faces criminal charges

LEAVENWORTH COUNTY, KS (KCTV) -

The wife of a man killed in an officer-involved shooting in Leavenworth, KS has been charged for her actions after the incident.

Heather Garcia, 41, of Leavenworth has been charged with misdemeanor interference with law enforcement and tampering with evidence.

The incident happened about 8:15 p.m. Tuesday outside a home near Rose and Pennsylvania Streets.

According to the police department, an officer was responding to a call about a stolen vehicle. While there, the officer reported that gunfire was being exchanged.

The man shot by the officer was later identified as 47-year-old Antonio Garcia, Jr. of Leavenworth, KS. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Heather Garcia was also arrested during the incident for interfering with a law enforcement officer; concealing, destroying or altering evidence and criminal damage to property. She is the wife of Antonio Garcia.
