WICHITA, KS (KWCH) -

A Wichita Public Schools teacher is arrested for cocaine distribution.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office tells us 48-year-old Heather Jones was booked Tuesday night into the Sedgwick County Jail.

Jones is a third-grade teacher at Enders Open Magnet Elementary. The sheriff's office says she was arrested on seven counts of cocaine distribution and is being held on bond.

The sheriff's office expects to present the case to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's Office Thursday.

A spokeswoman for USD 259 says the district is aware of Jones' arrest and is investigating.

A family of one of Jones' former students tells us Jones was a great teacher and had a positive impact on her students.

The family says they were shocked to hear Jones might be involved with dealing drugs, but say it doesn't change their opinion of what kind of teacher she is. The family says they hope Jones makes it through this situation, no matter what happens, or has happened.
