LIBERTY, MO (KCTV) -

Over 1,100 shells were used to put together the fireworks show in Liberty on Monday night, all placed with art and safety in mind.

Safety is paramount, according to organizers with J&M Displays.

They undergo hours of training and follow strict regulations about the distance between the explosives and the spectators.

The organizers started working with the city in February to plan the fireworks display, netting nearly 300 hours putting everything together.

To them, it is worth the work. It is an art form.

“This is all artwork in the sky for us…You’ll see tonight in Liberty’s show – we’ve choreographed this with music, so the shells almost tell a story along with the music and the sky so it’s a really beautiful thing,” said Judd Ward of J&M Displays.

Family activities start at 5:30 p.m., followed by a concert at eight.  The fireworks show begins at 10:10 p.m.
