Independence police arrest suspect after chase crosses state lines, twice

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Independence police have arrested a suspect after a chase that crossed state lines twice on Monday.

The chase started before 8:05 a.m. at an undisclosed location in Independence, MO.

Officers began the chase after the suspect attempted to steal a vehicle. They pursued the suspect, driving a blue Oldsmobile with a Kansas handicapped license plate, west on Interstate 70.

The chase crossed into Kansas City, KS before returning to Kansas City, MO.

The suspect was arrested east of First Street on Campbell Avenue.

Police say an officer used a stun gun before the suspect was arrested.

Kansas Highway Patrol assisted in the chase.

Kansas City, MO and Kansas City, KS officers were not involved in the chase or the arrest of the suspect.
