LEE'S SUMMIT, MO (KCTV) -

A pair of firefighters were taken to the hospital after battling a house fire Thursday morning.

The fire started about 6:45 a.m. at a home in the 1100 block of SE Bordner Drive.

A person inside the home was awoken by a dog and found a fire in the front of the garage and the back of a pickup truck parked near it.

The person attempted to fight the fire, and then went back in the house to get everyone out and call 911. As they were leaving, the fire had already spread to another nearby vehicle and more of the house.

Two firefighters were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after battling the flames. Officials say they are in stable condition.

The people living in the home were able to get out of the home and were not hurt.

A pet was killed in the fire.

The flames are believed to have started on the outside of the house and quickly spread to the inside.

The fire caused heavy structural damage to the home and heavily damaged two vehicles in the driveway, used for the occupant’s floor finishing business.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
