Flash flood warning issued for majority of Kansas City area as storms hit Thursday

FAIRWAY, KS (KCTV) -

A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for a majority of the Kansas City area.

Storms are expected to lighten up throughout Thursday afternoon. By early evening, there will be a few pop ups of storms.

Toward the end of the evening and overnight, storms are expected to reappear.

Large hail, damaging wind gusts and frequent lightning with a flash flooding risk are all possible.

There is a small tornado risk in the southern parts of the area. 

Temperatures are expected to climb into the upper 80s.
