After a Kansas City band had all of its gear stolen over the weekend, a Leavenworth fan stepped in to assist.

Ralph "Buddy" Rodgers donated a trailer to the band after the Chickens and Coke band had its gear stolen.

"It was a complete shock," band member Brian West said about the gift. “We had our band meeting last night, which we scheduled on Sunday right after we knew it was stolen. And we all thought it was going to be kind of like a funeral.”

But now thanks to Rodgers' donation, the band has hope.

Rodgers says he bought a better lock for the group.

“Good people so I thought, what they heck, help out," Rodgers said. “My thought process was complete. This is something I wanted to do, so I found three trailers.”

West said others in the metro have assisted since becoming aware of the band's story.

“We’ve had so many angels come out of the woodwork and help us out," he said.
