KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

For the most part, the evening will be quiet in the immediate Kansas City metro area with showers and thunderstorms hugging the Missouri / Iowa state line.

A tornado watch is in effect for counties north of the metro until 10 p.m.

Most of the action will remain north of U.S. Highway 36.

It is possible a stray storm could meander into the area, but the heaviest concentration of rain will likely stay north.

Overnight storms will work into our area with a chance for a wake up storm or two on Thursday, but the best opportunity for rain will be when the cold front pushes through well after sunset Thursday evening.
