EUDORA, KS (KCTV) -

A 36-year-old man has been charged in connection to the shooting death of a man in Eudora.

Danny Queen has been charged with first-degree murder in connection to the death of Bo Matthew Hopson, the Douglas County District Attorney's Office announced on Monday.

Queen also faces two accounts of attempted murder in the first degree.

Hopson was shot and killed outside the D-Dub's Bar at 10 W. 9th Street in Eudora on Saturday morning.

Two individuals in the area had detained and disarmed Queen, according to police on scene. Hopson was transported to the University of Kansas Medical Center, where he died on Sunday after surgery.

Hopson was a bouncer at the bar and he was even trying to kick the man out, according to Scott Hopson.

Scott Hopson is the father of Bo.

On Monday night, he stood at the podium in a room he once sat as mayor to thank emergency responders for their efforts on the weekend.

"It is because of them that my son lived another day for the rest of our family to be able to have time with him before he passed," he said.

A patron had been kicked out, he says, by other staff members.

There was a fist fight on the patio. Bo Hopson was in the parking lot, saw the man, who seemed to be hyperventilating and offered him a seat on the trailer where the band had been.

"He said, 'you know I'm concerned about you,'" Scott Hopson said. "I don't think you should drive. And the man pulled out a pistol and shot him."

A $1 million bond has been set.
