KANSAS CITY, KS (KCTV) -

An owner of a local business is hoping the community can step forward and assist him in locating thousands of dollars worth of tools stolen from him on Saturday night.

Keith Starling owns Kansas City Dent, a business that specializes in dent repair. It does business with both individuals and car dealerships around the metro.

On Saturday evening, someone stole the business' trailer that included approximately $250,000 worth of tools and 40 dealership keys to vehicles. Starling says the keys will need to be re-keyed and fobbed at around $800 a piece.

The theft happened at the Legends Toyota in Kansas City, KS.

"We lost everything," Starling said. "I can't even work. It's not just the tools...I have a group of guys who are stranded. It's not about the money. I just want to fix cars."

Starling says on Monday, he's traveling hours away from the metro in an effort to acquire some of the tools needed to continue his business. The stolen tools can not simply be purchased from a near-by store, he said.

While Starling is upset about the burglary, he's more worried about his career and crew.

"My thing is the livelihood. These guys live in hotels right now. They all travel for work. They all lost out on their next storm that they can go to and do repair."

Lew Freeman was part of the crew hired to repair every vehicle on the car lots after a recent hail storm.

The group was down to their last 50 cars to fix. Now, they don't know how they'll complete the job.

"I'm 1000 miles from home," he said. "I was supposed to go home this week and now we're not going to be able to because we have to finish this deal."

The dealer keys alone are worth $30,000.

If you have more information about the theft, contact Starling at 913-909-5157.

A $15,000 reward is being offered.
