Car found blocks away after carjacking in Raytown

RAYTOWN, MO (KCTV) -

A car was found blocks away after it was stolen at gunpoint in Raytown.

Police went to the area of 87th Street and James A. Reed Road on Friday around 4:30 p.m. on a call about a carjacking.

The person who owned the car said that, prior to the crime, he and two other people met with a man who they somewhat knew in a parking lot for some kind of transaction.

Minutes later, the three people in the car encountered the suspect at a gas station in the area. The suspect pulled out a gun and demanded the car.

The three people in the car ran away and the suspect took the car. No shots were fired and no one was injured.

The car was found blocks away. However, the suspect has not been found.

The suspect is described as a black man with a light complexion who is in his early 20s. All his clothing was blue.

The investigation is ongoing, so anyone with information is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477 (TIPS).
