KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Police in Kansas City have arrested five people after a man was beaten and robbed late Tuesday evening.

The incident happened about 11:12 p.m. near 31st Street and Olive Avenue.

Police say the suspects approached the man and asked him for money. When the victim declined to give the suspects money, three or four of them rushed him.

The suspects punched the man, knocking him to the ground, and then began going through his pockets. Police say one suspect was armed with a long gun.

Officers arrived a short time later and arrested five suspects.
