OVERLAND PARK, KS (KCTV) -

A large crowd is gathering to remember a young man who lost his life after wrecking his motorcycle.

Friends say Alec Haith had a passion for riding bikes with his friends weekly.

Haith was a familiar face in the motorcycle community. Friends say during the summer months he would drive a half hour to ride with friends.

On Sunday evening, Haith and a small group of riders were heading north on 131st and Switzer Rd when he lost control of his bike.
Police say he was ejected and hit a light pole. Haith died on scene.

Friends are now coping with the loss.

“As soon as I got the news my heart sank," Lukas Dickinson said. "I didn’t want to believe it.”

Police say excessive speed was factor in the crash. A GoFundMe page was set up to help with Haith’s family with funeral cost.
