KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Derrick Johnson gives everything he has both on and off the field. He's a standout player but will stand out for another reason on Sunday.

His philanthropic efforts and his game day play will collide on Sunday against the Falcons when he sports specially designed cleats in support of his Defend the Dream Foundation.

Johnson told KCTV5 when he requested the special cleats, he gave the designers color suggestions, but has no idea what they will end up looking like.

No matter how they look, he said he loves the chance to show off his foundation and all that it stands for.

"My foundation caters to inner city kids though education and that's a big part of my passion," said Johnson. "What I want to do as far as impacting the community through education and knowing that, it's very important and making the younger generations' dreams come true through education."

Johnson won't be the only one on Sunday wearing special cleats.

Chiefs safety Eric Berry will also wear purple cleats, at least during warm ups, for Lymphoma Awareness.

He said hopefully through the way he plays the game, people that are battling something or feel like they can't do it, can look at him and say, "you know what, I can get up today."
