OVERLAND PARK, KS (KCTV) -

Authorities are looking for a possible armed man after a domestic incident Monday night.

Police were called to a domestic dispute in the 6800 block of Johnson Drive. Officers say a man ran from that scene with a gun.

Officers say the man they were searching for was seen about 6 a.m. Tuesday near Johnson Drive and Foster Street.

They say he was seen walking toward a wooded area and was believed to have a weapon.

Witnesses say they heard a loud popping noise and thought it was a gunshot. However, officers on the scene say a blown transformer is believed to be the cause of the noise.

Shawnee Mission North High School was placed on a brief lockdown as a precaution. The school is located at 7401 Johnson Dr.

"When there's a suspect in the area we want to get as many police officers in the area and to get a perimeter in case the suspect tries to leave the area. We had several officers out here and were not able to locate him at this particular time," Overland Park Police Officer John Lacy said.
