KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A Kansas City officer was transported to a hospital with serious injuries in a carjacking and high-speed chase Thanksgiving morning, after being struck by a police car. A suspect was also hospitalized, according to the Kansas City Police Department.

Police arrested three carjacking suspects following the morning chase along Blue Ridge Boulevard that exceeded speeds of 90 miles per hour. Kansas City officers responded around 6:30 a.m. to a report of shots fired at a 7-Eleven convenience store at the 10600 block of Blue Ridge Boulevard. While responding to the call, police came across a white Honda Accord wanted in an armed carjacking from just before midnight at Lydia Avenue and 54th Street.

Officers started chasing the car, and the suspects bailed from the vehicle at 87th Street and Blue Ridge Boulevard around 6:55 a.m. A subsequent foot chase resulted in the arrest of three suspects, at least one of whom had a gun, police said.

During the foot chase, a police car hit one of the officers. That officer was transported to a local hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
