Victim identified in homicide on E. 49th Street

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Police are investigating a shooting that left one person dead. 

The shooting happened just before 6 p.m. in the 3100 block of E. 49th St. in Kansas City. 

On Thursday, the victim was identified as 49-year-old Arthur Lee Mourning, Jr. 

When officers arrived, they found Mourning suffering from a gunshot wound. He had answered his door when he heard someone knocking and was confronted by the suspect. 

The suspect robbed him at gunpoint and shot him. 

Mourning was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and died hours later. 

Police do not have much suspect information available at this time.
