INDEPENDENCE, MO (KCTV) -

Thanks to the community, a young boy is going to be able to see better than ever.

Corbin Wolfe’s family raised the $15,000 they needed for his eSight eyewear. They’ve ordered it, and it’s on its way.

All of Kansas City fell in love with 7-year-old after they saw a video of him trying on eSight for the very first time. It’s new technology using a camera and monitor to help people who are legally blind see.

It will help Corbin stay on track in school and in life.

Since KCTV5 News aired Corbin’s story two months ago, the family has been working hard to raise money.

Now, they have enough for the glasses, but they’re hoping a fundraiser scheduled for next week could help Corbin with continued challenges from the 86 surgeries he’s had so far in his young life.

“He has medical expenses that still haven’t been paid for, up to $5,000. He needs insurance on the glasses. That way if they’re lost, stolen, anything happens to them, we’ll be able to replace them,” Corbin’s mom, Jennie Braden said.

They’ll also need to get replacement lenses as he grows and as the technology improves.

Corbin’s fundraiser is on Dec. 2 at 6 p.m. at Valley Pub in Grain Valley. Auction items include gift cards, spa gift certificates, a NASCAR trip, a trip to Boston and a tour of KCTV5 led by anchor and reporter Natalie Davis.

There is a $5 cover charge to the event and another $5 to eat. You can buy raffle tickets and enter the silent auction.
