KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A major fire isn't stopping a local church from supporting those in need over the holidays.

The Evangelistic Center Church at Truman and Troost was destroyed by flames just two weeks ago.

No one was hurt, but the congregation was left without a home.

The church still doesn't know what caused the fire that destroyed the place where they've been worshiping for more than 60 years, but they say even without a building, they'll continue to collect donations to give to families through Christmas.

"It's important for us to do what we're doing," said assistant pastor Darryl Robinson. "It's a healing process and it helps us refocus. I think that's what we're called to do. We're called to do some things for the Thanksgiving season."

On Monday, the church packaged enough food for 60 adults, seniors and children.
