For the first time in over 400 calendar days, Kansas City Chiefs fans will go home from Arrowhead Stadium after a loss.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, using clutch third-down conversions and a critical interception, defeated the Chiefs 19-17.

The loss snaps Kansas City’s five-game winning streak.

Bucs quarterback Jameis Winston, after an early fumble, performed well.

He finished with 331 yards on 24-of-39 passing. The Buccaneers offense converted 11-of-16 third down attempts to either keep drives going or consume clock time.

The Chiefs opened up the scoring with a 22-yard field goal. The team’s opening drive was stalled inside Tampa Bay’s four-yard-line, however.

After the Chiefs fell behind 6-3, quarterback Alex Smith found Tyreek Hill on a 42-yard pass. Smith capped off the drive with an 11-yard touchdown run to give the Chiefs a 10-6 halftime lead.

Following a Tampa Bay field goal to end the first half and one to begin the second half, the Chiefs fell behind 12-10.

It appeared the Chiefs were going to regain the lead, but Buccaneers defender Chris Conte picked off Smith in the end zone. Tampa Bay capitalized off of Alex Smith’s first red zone turnover since 2013.

The Bucs scored their only touchdown of the game on a Winston swing pass on third down.

Smith responded with a touchdown pass to Albert Wilson, but it was not enough.

With the loss, the Chiefs drop to 7-3 on the season. They are in a tie for second place in the AFC West with the Broncos.
