Man charged for shots fired at officers in KCMO

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A Kansas City man is facing felony charges after firing a weapon repeatedly in a residential neighborhood and for some of those shots hitting a vehicle occupied by undercover police officers.

Ryan Taylor, 20, faces charges of unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action. A bond of $100,000 has been requested for Taylor.

According to court documents, the defendant was a passenger in a vehicle who was seen firing a weapon in a residential neighborhood. Some shots struck a vehicle occupied by undercover police.

Police say the incident started shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday. Police were doing surveillance at East 25th Street and Park Avenue when they spotted the suspects and started following them. 

Taylor opened fire at police. The officers returned fire. 

Police stopped the SUV at East 19th and Charlotte streets and took two suspects into custody. 

No one was injured during the gunfire.
