KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

One of Kansas City’s most well-known record labels is warning young women not to fall for an impostor who is asking underage age girls to send photos and more.

Tech N9ne’s independent label, Strange Music, sent an alert to fans warning them that the phony is not an employee.

Strange Music says a man who claims to represent the record label is texting and calling underage age girls, even using Snapchat and Instagram to ask them for pictures to be considered for a casting role.

The label says they want to make it clear the man is not affiliated with their company.

Kansas City’s Tech N9ne is known for earning millions as an artist and co-founder of the Strange Music label. He landed a spot on Forbes list of highest paid hip hop artists four years in a row.

Strange Music’s Publicity Coordinator Korey Lloyd worries someone is trying to use the label’s reputation to take advantage of underage girls.

"We take pride in what we do," Lloyd said. "The person was trying to get girls to send him provocative pictures asking their measurements and things like that."

Several young women, including 16-year-old girls, contacted Strange Music to let them know someone contacted them using the Snapchat user name "TTech9ne" or the Instagram user name "_Johnson_Gage” to ask for pictures of them to cast for music videos.

"I don't care if you are 16 or 36, you are not to be approached like that," Lloyd said. "It's a matter of respect and decency."

Because Tech N9ne shoots the majority of his music videos in Kansas City, his co-workers worry someone could be fooled by a pretend employee.

The record label asks everyone who was contacted by the imposter to file a police report and file a complaint with the social media app used to contact them.

“Keep everything," Lloyd said. "Take screens shots of it to make sure you have a record of any of the contact. Above all, don't send him anything. Don't feed into what he is doing. Don't perpetuate the notion that this is something that people can or should do.”

Tech N9ne could not be reached for comment. He's currently touring in New Zealand.

If you are ever contacted by someone claiming to be with Strange Music, regardless of the reason, and wish to verify the validity, please do not hesitate to contact the label at strangemusic@strangemusicinc.com in order to do so.
