PITTSBURG, KS (KCTV5) -

Following an intensive four-day investigation and search, authorities have located two bodies late Tuesday night buried on a rural property west of Pittsburg.

The bodies recovered are believed to be Pleasanton residents, Betty Mcnabb, 87, and Kenneth Mcnabb, 65, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the Linn County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday. Autopsies and official identification are pending.

David Mcnabb, 31, of Pittsburg, was arrested Monday for second-degree murder, criminal desecration of a body and interference with a law enforcement officer.

Mcnaab and her son were reported missing by family members late Friday evening. A check of their home in the 16300 block of East 1650 Road in Pleasanton, KS led the Linn County Sheriff’s Office to suspect foul play.

Investigators say they received a tip from someone which led them to land outside of Pittsburg. The brutal nature of the crime has shocked people in Pleasanton.

Agencies assisting in this investigation include the Overland Park Police Department Dive Team, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, the Kansas Department of Wildlife, the Missouri Search and Rescue K-9 Unit and Parks and the Kansas Highway Patrol.
