One dead, one hospitalized after overnight shooting in KCMO

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

An overnight shooting in Kansas City. MO has left one dead and another in the hospital.

It happened about 12:45 a.m. Tuesday at the Phillips 66 gas station on Drury Avenue and Bannister Road.

Police say when they responded to the call they saw signs of a shooting but no victims were found.

Witnesses told officers that a vehicle with possible victims inside drove south from the gas station.

Officers later found the vehicle, crashed into a fire hydrant near 96th Place and Drury Avenue, about a block and a half from the gas station. One victim was inside the vehicle. He was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The other victim ran to a nearby apartment complex to get help, he suffered a gunshot wound to the hip during the shooting.

He was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.

Witnesses say the suspects pulled into the station and fired multiple shots into the victim’s car before fleeing west on Bannister Road.

Police are still searching for the suspects.
