Police have cleared out a local homeless camp following a string of stabbings on Indian Creek Trail.

A homeless man was stabbed and critically hurt and then, a homeless women was stabbed in the same area.

Those stabbings led to the discovery of a homeless camp that cropped up near Indian Creek Trail, around 102nd and Wornall.

On Monday, police went in to clear out the camp, but instead of arresting the transients, they chose to bring them the help they need.

“People deal with their circumstances differently and some have destructive, some constructive behaviors,” Kansas City police captain Todd Marckx said. “It’s our job to contact them, make their lives better - and make Kansas City a safer place to live.”

The trails run through the wooded areas of Indian Creek Trail.
