PLEASANTON, KS (KCTV) -

A person of interest is being held for questioning in connection to an elderly Linn County woman and her son.

Betty McNaab, 87, and her son, Kenneth McNaab, 65, were reported missing by family members late Friday evening. A check of their home in the 16300 block of East 1650 Road in Pleasanton led the Linn County Sheriff’s Office to suspect foul play.

The sheriff's office requested help from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation to investigate. The federal agency had agents and a crime scene reconstruction team in the area since Saturday pursuing leads.

Agencies assisting in this investigation include the Overland Park Police Department, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks and the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Authorities confirm a man is being held on a probable cause.

The sheriff says prosecutors plan to charge David McNabb with second-degree murder, criminal desecration of a body and felony interference with a law enforcement officer

Life-long residents in the small town were shocked at the case.

"It's very rare,” said resident Vicki Rhoads. “Life in Pleasanton is just wonderful, it's quiet, tons of people there and when something goes wrong the community pulls together."

Anyone with information is asked to call the KBI at 1-800-KS-CRIME.
