KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

All northbound lanes of I-435 at Bannister Road are closed after a fatality crash.

The wreck was reported about 12:40 p.m. Tuesday.

Kansas City police said it was during the lunch hour a car slammed into another car that had come to a complete stop in the lane of traffic.

The car was hit so hard that it was burst into flames and the driver did not survive.

"According to some of the witnesses, some people said the car was stalled and traveling highway speeds they came up on a really quick," said Kansas City police sergeant Jeff Cowdrey. "These things can happen."

Police say this wreck is another reminder that it's always a good idea to leave plenty of distance between you and the car in front of you.
