KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

The students at Northgate Middle School are voting for president, governor, U.S. senator and U.S. representative, and they’re excited to have a voice.

The gymnasium was converted to a polling location complete with voting booths and perhaps even those long lines you’d expect to see on Election Day.

One-by-one, registered junior high voters checked in and headed to cast their vote but not before researching each candidate.

“They keep asking me who is going to win and who is truthful and who is not. I'm just like, 'We've got to do some research. You've got to figure this out on your own, figure out who you side with,'” teacher Mindy Wheeler said.

"I know that since we can't vote, this is a really big deal for a lot of students here. I know it doesn't influence the actual election, but it's fun to imagine that we have that power," seventh-grader Duaa Mohamed said.

Their votes might not count in this election, but your vote does. Be sure to get to the polls on Tuesday.

If you’re curious, Northgate Middle School has spoken, and they’ve chosen Democrats Hillary Clinton and her running mate Tim Kaine for president and vice president. They elected Democrat Jason Kander for U.S. Senator and Chris Koster, also a Democrat, for Missouri governor.
