OVERLAND PARK, KS (KCTV) -

While the State of Kansas, a Republican stronghold, is not getting too much attention nationally, a U.S. House Race is generating some interest.

Recent polling indicates the race is tight between U.S. House Rep. Kevin Yoder (R, KS) and his Democratic challenger, Jay Sidie.

On the issues, both Yoder and Sidie agree with monitoring federal spending closer, but differ in how they want to do it.

Yoder wants to loosen tax-code barriers and federal Environment Protection Agency regulations he believes would increase taxes for Kansans.

Sidie has called for reforming Wall Street and says he wants to hold big banks more accountable.

"His (Yoder) decision matrix is how is that’s going to effect my political career and I'm just the opposite,” Sidie said. “I’m all about what helps the district the most."

Yoder, the veteran representative of the 3rd District in Kansas, says his experience matters.

“The experience I’ve had…I represent Kansas values,” Yoder says.
